The nettle

The nettle is an annual plant and grows up to 1.5 meters high. The plant starts growing in April to October. The color of the plant is green. Most people see the nettle as an annoying, ugly plant, but did you know that this plant has medicinal properties?

Properties of the nettle

The entire plant can be used: the leaf, the flower, the stem and the root. When taken orally, the following properties are attributed to the nettle:

  • Purification of blood and lymphatic system
  • Anti-inflammatory and analgesic
  • Improves immunity, reduces allergic symptoms, antihistamine
  • Promotes digestion, bile-forming, bile-driving and promotes peristalsis
  • Stimulates blood formation
  • Adding calcium and iron (remineralizing)
  • Strengthens hair and nails, strengthens cartilage (including calcium, zinc, silicon) and promotes bone development
  • Stimulates milk production

Application of the above-ground herb (oral intake):

Due to all these properties, nettle can be used for many conditions, for example:

  • Recovery after illness, fatigue and weakness
  • Too high uric acid levels
  • Osteoarthritis and arthritis, cartilage wear
  • Atopic allergies such as hay fever and dust mite allergy / itching due to allergic reactions
  • Weak/difficult digestion, liver and bile disorders
  • Anemia

Preparation method:

Pick the tops of the non-flowering nettle (top 15 cm) and wash them thoroughly. For healthy dogs: puree raw into a baby snack. For dogs with digestive and/or kidney problems: Boil them for a few minutes and then puree if necessary.

Quantity

The recommended amount of vegetables is an additional 15% of the daily amount of food.
