Description
Wastes
Waste products are present in every body and the body is constantly excreting these substances. Organs such as the liver and kidneys purify the blood and excrete waste products. These waste products can enter the body in many ways: preservatives or fillers in food, remains of administered medicines (for example deworming) or by drinking polluted (ditch) water. Air pollution also causes the accumulation of toxins in the body.
Although the kidneys and liver are constantly working to remove these substances that are harmful to the body, waste products often remain behind and accumulate. As a result, these organs are increasingly unable to perform their cleansing effect and nutrients are absorbed less well. This can lead to all kinds of complaints. The way in which these express themselves can be very diverse. Poor skin and coat condition, chronic digestive problems, bladder or kidney stones, dirty eyes and ears or medication not working properly; These are all signs that the body and its 'waste factories' can use extra support. When the body is free of all kinds of harmful waste, organs and the immune system can function better. There is less chance of allergies developing, resistance improves and any medication works better.
Drainage and phytotherapy
A large number of plants and herbs have been known since ancient times to have a specific effect on the body. Think of plants or herbs with a laxative effect, garlic that is sweated out through the pores in the skin or the earthy smell that urine can take on after eating asparagus . Most synthetic medicines are also based on such natural raw materials.
Phytotherapeutic products are products that contain only plants, parts of plants or a combination of different (parts of) plants. This can be in its pure form, but these plants have often been processed because they sometimes evoke too strong a reaction in their pure form. Phytotherapy aims to provide the mildest possible stimulus that encourages the body to 'revolt' against what is throwing it out of balance, without causing side effects. A number of plants and herbs are known to act on the organs in the body that are important in the breakdown and excretion of waste products: the liver, kidneys, gallbladder and lymphatic system. These plants can have a stimulating effect and stimulate organs to work harder, while other plants have a constructive effect: they ensure cell building and renewal in the organs and help to recover after illness or damage by medicines.
When waste products accumulate in the body, a phytotherapeutic drainage agent offers a solution. A good drainage agent contains a balanced composition of both stimulating and constructive raw materials, each of which has an effect on a certain aspect of a certain excretory organ in the body and contains around 25 components with a cleansing effect. That may seem a bit much and unnecessary, but it is not. Each component has an effect on a slightly different part or mechanism of action of an organ. There are components that stimulate the kidneys to work harder, but also that help the kidneys to recover or have a diuretic function; together they promote the cleansing of the kidneys.
Ingredients and their cleansing effect on organs
The ingredients and their effect are discussed below for each organ. It is also explained why it is important to cleanse the organ in question.
The liver
The liver fulfills three important functions in the body: vascular, secretory (excretion) and metabolic (metabolism). When the liver is burdened with too many waste products, this has an impact on all three functions and one quickly ends up in a vicious circle: because waste products are not sufficiently removed due to insufficient secretory function of the liver, they remain stored in the liver. and thus hinder metabolic and vascular function. Most plants that have a detoxifying effect on the liver, stimulate the secretory function of the liver and thus increase the excretion of bile and waste products.
Carduus Marianus (Milk Thistle) and Taraxacum (Dandelion) have a detoxifying effect on the liver and stimulate the secretory function in particular; they regulate bile production and transport from the liver. Examples of manifestations of disturbed liver/biliary function are digestive problems such as constipation, flatulence or a slowed metabolism. In addition, milk thistle contains the substance 'silymarin' which supports the liver in the breakdown of certain types of medicines and, in humans, all stimulants.
Cynara (Artichoke) stimulates bile production and transports urea – ammonia converted by the liver – to the kidneys. Artichoke therefore works against insufficient liver and kidney function and also counteracts high cholesterol and arteriosclerosis.
Juniper berry promotes overall liver drainage and stimulates excretion from the liver.
The kidneys
The kidneys have three important functions in the body: production of hormones, regulating fluid balance and removing waste products. A number of plants stimulate these three kidney functions and promote the overall purifying effect, as it were, cleansing the kidneys:
Betula (White Birch) and Berberis (Barberry) both promote the excretion of uric acid. This prevents accumulation of waste products in the kidneys and thus works against kidney stones or grit.
Equisaetum (horsetail) affects, among other things, the kidneys and urinary tract. Horsetail contains a lot of silicon, which is essential for the construction of cell walls for plants and animals. This is why Equisaetum is also widely used in products that support hair, nails and bones. It also has a constructive effect on the kidneys. In addition, horsetail is an important blood purifier and has a strong diuretic function.
The aforementioned Juniperus (Jeniper berry) promotes overall drainage of the kidneys. Juniperus stimulates blood flow in the kidneys, so that waste products are better 'filtered out' by the nephrons. It also has a diuretic effect: the water containing the filtered waste products is removed from the kidneys more actively.
Ribes Nigrum (Blackcurrant) promotes the function of the adrenal cortex. Scientific research has shown that Ribes nigrum has a stimulating effect on both the adrenal cortex and the production of anti-inflammatory hormones. In the kidneys themselves, blackcurrant causes the release of histamine from the mast cell. It has a constructive effect and promotes kidney function.
Solidago (Goldenrod) has a soothing effect and has a diuretic function, making it good for the kidneys: it helps to flush the kidneys.
Uva Ursi (Bearberry) works on the membranes of the urinary tract and strengthens the kidneys. The flavonoids and acids in Bearberry work against kidney stones, kidney stones and bladder stones and the substance Arbutin from the grape is converted in the kidneys into a substance – hydroquinone – that has anti-inflammatory properties.
Gastrointestinal system
A properly functioning gastrointestinal system is essential for a healthy body. With its central location in the digestive system, the stomach is, as it were, the 'waiting room' of the liver, pancreas, spleen and large and small intestines. Good production of digestive enzymes and a healthy mucus layer in the stomach are very important to perform this function properly. A drainage cure can support this process.
The intestines further digest the food, absorb nutrients from it and remove waste products, including from the liver. When too much waste remains in the intestines - for example if poor intestinal flora has developed after a course of antibiotics - this also slows down the absorption of nutrients. This can lead to not only digestive complaints, but also skin and coat problems. In this case, a supplement with probiotics can be used to rebuild the intestinal flora. A drainage cure accelerates this process because it helps the intestines to remove waste products, so that they no longer stand in the way of the development of intestinal flora. .
Angelica (Angelica) stimulates the production of digestive juices and enzymes, which improves the absorption of nutrients, prevents putrefaction and fermentation and improves blood circulation in the stomach and intestines. Angelica has traditionally been used for poor digestion.
The roots of Bardana (Great Burdock) contain many Inulin and mucus formers. This could explain the soothing effect on the stomach and intestines. In the large intestine, Inulin is broken down into biologically active substances, such as butyric acid, which has been proven to prevent the proliferation of 'bad cells'. The bitter elements in Bardana have a positive effect on indigestion. Bardana also contains polyacetylenes with antimicrobial properties that support digestion.
Calamus (Sweet Calamus) has a soothing effect on the one hand and, on the other hand, has an irritating effect on the stomach due to the bitter substances in Calamus.
Centaurium (Century) also has a positive effect on digestion. It stimulates the appetite, purifies the blood and makes the intestinal environment unattractive to uninvited guests. In addition, Centaurium has a strong irritating effect on the gastrointestinal system, so it should not be used for severe stomach and intestinal problems.
Hydrastis (Canadian Turmeric) has a strengthening effect on the mucous membrane in the stomach.
Juniperus (juniper berry) also has a positive effect on the stomach and regulates gastric juice production.
Uncaria tomentosa (Cat's claw) increases resistance and makes the intestines unattractive to invaders.
The lymphatic system
The lymphatic system, with all its side branches to all tissues in the body, functions as a gigantic drainage system, with the lymph nodes being the gatekeepers to other parts of the body. The lymphatic system removes all kinds of waste products from the body. The glands function as purification stations where bacteria, viruses and other pathogens are rendered harmless. Waste products are also filtered from the lymph there. It is Echinacea in particular that has a strong stimulating effect on the activity of the lymphatic system.
Echinacea is praised for its immune-stimulating properties on various fronts (also often in case of flu or colds). Echinacea has an interferon-like effect and activates the leucocytes and T-lymphocytes in the lymphatic fluid. Echinacea combats acute and/or chronic invaders in the body such as viruses and stimulates the lymphatic system, so that waste products and remains of these pathogens are removed quickly and adequately.
Reactions and side effects
In some cases it is better to be cautious with drainage. This is because drainage can be stressful for the animal. Getting rid of waste products simply costs the body extra energy. During a drainage treatment, waste products are loosened to be removed by the organs. These waste products are transported through the blood. This can cause a tired feeling and animals can become somewhat lethargic.
A drainage treatment may initially cause a slight worsening of the existing complaints. Under no circumstances should this reaction be so severe that it actually makes the animal sick. Many animal owners report that the 'weak spots' in their animal's body in particular became more active during drainage treatment. This is often an increase in skin, coat, eye or ear problems, or loose, slimy or smelly stools. This is a normal reaction. However, if the animal becomes clearly ill due to a severe excretion reaction, it is advisable to stop temporarily and reduce the dosage in consultation with a veterinarian. Even if such symptoms persist for longer than 3-4 weeks (detoxification usually takes approximately two weeks), it is advisable to contact a (holistic) veterinarian.
When not to drain?
During pregnancy or lactation, it is not recommended to administer a drainage treatment, especially because a number of components stimulate fluid expulsion and the effect of this on the fetus or newborn animal has not yet been sufficiently investigated.
Animals that are very sick should not be drained. The body must have sufficient energy to cope with the removal of waste products and when the body itself is already working hard to get better, it often cannot use such an additional burden.
It is advisable not to start a drainage treatment just before an operation, but to wait until the animal has been operated on and recovered, actually for the same reason as above. The white blood cells must be able to focus on a speedy recovery. An additional effect is that the remains of the anesthesia are immediately removed from the body.
Also do not administer a drainage treatment in the case of diabetes because the glucose level in the blood may fluctuate slightly due to the irritating effect on various organs.
In the case of conditions related to the immune system, such as cancer or autoimmune diseases, it is advisable to only initiate a drainage treatment in consultation with a (holistic) veterinarian.
Fables?
Draining does not pose a risk to the chip that many pets carry. Occasionally stories circulate that a drainage treatment would expel all foreign substances - including the chip. However, this is not the case. In the past, when a different type of chip was used and people were not yet very adept at placing chips correctly, it often happened that a chip would 'walk' through the body. However, this is not the result of drainage.
Dosage
1 – 3 x daily (1 ml = 20 drops)
Horse 20 drops
Pony 15 drops
Shake well before use
If it is difficult in practice to administer this product several times a day, once a day or once every 2 days is sufficient. Then give the maximum dose of one day. This product can also be used effectively, but reaction may take a little longer.
If improvement occurs, you can switch to a maintenance dose. This is usually half of the dosage indicated on the package. When dosing this product, pay close attention to the animal's reaction. A higher dose may be required initially, but this product can safely be given in double doses. When improvement occurs, gradually reduce the dosage to the lowest possible dosage.
With some dilutions and extracts, a short-term worsening may occur at the start of treatment. This means that the animal reacts to the product. In case of a severe increase, halve the dosage or stop temporarily and then gradually build up again.
Administration
Give this product directly into the mouth using a plastic syringe, possibly diluted with a little water. Preferably not at the same time as a meal because the product works better if it is absorbed by the clean oral mucosa. If an animal does not like the product, the drops can be given on a small piece of treat.
Duration of treatment
When PUUR Detoxi is given as a treatment, the duration of the treatment is approximately 3/4 weeks. You basically finish the bottle. It is recommended to give a treatment twice a year, January/February and September/October. To support the immune system. If this product is given for a longer period of time, it is advisable to take a break for a week after 6 to 8 weeks. This means that the 'incentive' can be offered again after the stop week.
In an acute situation, the duration of treatment is relatively short. This can vary from a few days to 3 weeks. If improvement continues, continue administering this product for a few days. In case of long-term discomfort, the effect is usually visible after 1 to 3 weeks.
Interaction and contraindication
Always use during pregnancy and lactation in consultation with the attending veterinarian. To date, side effects of this product are not known or reported.
PUUR Detoxi is not recommended for a sick animal.
